South Causey Inn is a friendly welcoming hotel situated in the beautiful Beamish Valley. Set in 100 acres, we have an adjacent British Horse Society Approved Equestrian Centre that is home to over 100 horses and donkeys! Also on site are the Beamish Lakes, our very own trout fishery.
There are 15 ensuite bedrooms that have all been tastefully refurbished in 2008. We take enormous care and pride in our food, using locally sourced ingredients - indeed our trout pate and fresh fillet of trout that are caught daily from our lake, has a terrific following. We work closely with our suppliers to ensure the best products are ensured by local farmers and fish from the local market is brought in daily. We serve food all day in our relaxed oak floored and beamed restaurant, with a wide menu choice. Our well stocked bar serves locally brewed Real Ales, we have a generous wine cellar, Chefs freshly prepared fruit juices and a wide array of coffees and teas.
There are 2 beautiful function rooms available, decorated with hanging tapestries and chandeliers that can offer a comprehensive Conference package. The Inn is also licenced for Civil Weddding Ceremonies, Civil Partnerships, Naming Ceremonies, birthday parties and family get together - our experienced team of event organisers can assist you in all aspects of function management, to leave you free to enjoy your day.
South Causey Inn is situated in beautiful countryside with many tourist sites on our door step, we are within walking distance of the world renowned Causey Arch Railway Bridge - the oldest of its kind in the world! Cycles are available for guests use to explore the local countryside. Beamish, Europes most famous open air museum, is only 1/2 a mile away and guests of the Hotel get discounted entry tickets. We also are only 1/2 a mile away from Tanfield Steam Railway, with daily steam engine rides and guests of the Hotel also receive 2 for 1 discounted entry tickets.
The Beamish Wild Experience that is based at our neighbouring Beamish Hall Hotel which is well within walking distance, also offers gusts of South Causey disounted tickets to the Bird of Prey Centre and High Wire Ropes Course.
Our geographical position, only minutes for the A1, makes us the ideal gateway to the best that the North East has to offer. The cities of Durham and Newcastle are 8 miles equidistant from South Causey and the award winning Metro Centre - Europes largest shopping centre, is only 10 minutes away from us. The Angel of the North, the National Trusts Gibside Chapel We are only 30 minutes away from the stunning Northumberland coast and the beautiful Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Bamburgh Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle and many other historical ruins.
