Causey Comeback COVID Update

We understand how hard lockdown has been and how worrying it is to come back into a social situation. Please be assured that all our staff at South Causey Inn are waiting to welcome you back with the biggest smile and the knowledge that we have done everything we possibly can to take care of your safety.

We are delighted to announce that we have received the VisitEngland “We’re good to go” COVID-19 Industry Standard Certificate. This is a recognition that we are following government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, ensuring processes are in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social/physical distancing.

WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN I ARRIVE?

Please arrive to the main entrance to the Inn on the A6076. For control, this will be the only entrance that is open. A steward will greet you at the entrance and direct you to you designated car park area for residents, Bubble Pods and Hot Spot, main restaurant, Durham Suite Cinema Club or Old Barn ‘Pie and a Pint!’

Once you have parked, make your way to your designated area and your host will greet and guide you to your booked table. All drinks and food are waiter served (we are going to be trialling an app and we would love your help to develop this).

There are directional signs and hand sanitisers located around the venue and all staff have been given training on advanced cleaning procedures for extra security.

Listed below is how we are going to unfold South Causey and we really look forward to welcoming you without a hug but with very warm wishes!

All tables must be booked in advance via the website or by phoning 01207 235555. Please note that we are so sorry that our old bar is now for residents and diners only. However, our Hot Spot Bar is available to drop in for tea, coffee, scones and alcoholic beverages. There is safe seating for up to 20 guests on tables for between 2 and 6 guests and table service will be provided. If there are no tables available, there is a small waiting area or your steward will inform you at the gate of availability.

WHAT CAN I DO AT SOUTH CAUSEY INN?

SATURDAY 4TH JULY:

Our accommodation is open for single overnight stays, or please see our special room offer of a 3 nights for the price of 2, so you can take advantage of our stunning north east attractions.

*Please note on a Sunday we do not served afternoon tea - but pods are available for Sunday Lunch.

SUNDAY  5TH JULY:

Our main restaurant is open today for Sunday lunches, throughout our Shafto Suite, Bar and Snug for table bookings only please follow this link for our sample Sunday menu.

The beautiful Old Barn is open today for a traditional ‘Pie, Piny and Catch up’! Tables can be booked from 2 to 6 guests to arrive at 1.30pm for a 2 hour table service and serving a proper Causey Corn Beef Pie or Chefs Vegetable Pie with mushy peas and gravy and a bottle of Causey Ale or Causey Lager! Our bar will be open with table service for drinks, giving you a real chance to catch up with your loved ones safely at the pub!

FRIDAY, 10TH JULY:

From today onwards, our main restaurant is open Monday to Saturday for lunch, Afternoon Tea and evening dining and on a Sunday with our lovely Sunday menu.

SATURDAY, 11TH JULY:

We are thrilled to announce The Causey Afternoon Tea Cinema Club is coming to our Durham Suite. Private parking and a private entrance will ensure your comfort while social distancing and today we are showing Dirty Dancing! For more details and more films, please click HERE

Our customer and staff safety are of supreme importance to us and our reception team are available 7 days a week from 9am until 5pm and full day reception are returning from 4th July. If you have any further questions, we would be delighted to take your call.

When booking a table, our maximum amount of guests is six per table and each table can have a maximum of two different households.

We will provide an environment in which you will be able to safely social distance. Two households must practice social distancing at all times whilst at the South Causey Inn. For example; two households must remain at-least one meter away from eachother, any guest from the same households are still encouraged to socially distance when possible.

For all bedroom bookings from guests from two households, we insist social distancing must be followed at all times.

  • What happens if I book a stay and Government restrictions prevent me from attending?

    Please note that if a booking cannot go ahead as a result of a change in government guidelines relating to Covid-19, we will convert any monies paid to a South Causey Inn monetary voucher.

  • I have a gift voucher that is due to expire. What should I do?

    We would hate for you, or the loved one that you gifted the voucher to, to miss out on your experience with us.

    PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL

    • All bedrooms and public areas will have been cleaned and disinfected using hospital grade chemicals.
    • Extra disinfection of the most frequently touched areas and items – kitchen utensils and equipment, light switches, door handles, lamps, TV remotes, thermostats, bathroom surfaces, all hard surfaces and more.
    • Each bedroom and public area has been de-cluttered to allow for ease of cleaning
    • Prior to arrival all guests will be asked to confirm if they or any of their party have shown symptoms. Unfortunately, those currently with symptoms, or self-isolating will be asked to visit at a future date.

    UPON ARRIVAL

    • Accommodation will be charged 72 hours prior to arrival to allow the most contact free experience
    • We will offer contactless check in and key collection – we ask that only the lead guest comes to reception.
    • We are encouraging contactless payment methods for any incidentals
    • All guest information will be available online, as our traditional guest directories have been removed.
    • Hand sanitizing stations will be provided at the entrance to each of our properties.

    DURING YOUR STAY

    • Your room will be thoroughly cleaned
    • Hand sanitiser will be readily available at stations around the Inn
    • Customer service will be just a phone call away.
    • Our housekeeping team can provide fresh linen and towels on request – these can be delivered to your room wrapped to avoid social contact.
    • Our house keeping team can also take away your rubbish on request and provide fresh bin bags.
    • In addition to the existing hand washing facilities around our properties, we will be supplying hand sanitiser in key locations.
    • All our staff are receiving regular guidance and updates on how to prevent COVID-19 in the workplace.

    DINING

    • We have adjusted our restaurants to allow for social distancing and make the most of our outdoor dining space.
    • We will also be offering an extensive menu for you to enjoy in your room.
    • A continental room service breakfast basket can delivered to all guests on breakfast inclusive packages or they have breakfast served in the social distance restaurant.
    • Our bars and lounges are unavailable as per the government guidelines, but our team will be happy to serve you with anything you required in the comfort of your room or your dedicated table.
